HoopSpeak Live 23: The Clips

Since I'm remembering this piecemeal (the hummus thing at the end erased my memory)... Rondo in the top 30 is a stretch -- that means, if NBA talent were redistributed through a fantasy draft, he'd be some team's reasonable first pick. Top 60, ok, but if he's your second best guy, your team is gonna be baaaaad. Rondo's well known and the stuff he does well is celebrated, but that's largely because Boston won a ring and he's in a top defensive team anchored and floor-coached by KG. I'm not saying he isn't a really good player -- he is. But top 30 is a distinction that should go to guys you can actually expect to build a team around, while Rondo is a guy who fills in a lot of holes but doesn't anchor anything. Put it this way... if Rondo wanted out, could Boston expect to get an all-star point guard in return? Probably not...

Zach -- Since Larry Coon philibustered your MFK question... I'll answer for the Magic. Gilbert's contract -- kill --> they thought it looked ok from a long ways away, now it's here and they can't get rid of it, it's killing their hopes and dreams and they can't live with it Lewis' Contract -- [relations] --> they had their fun and parted ways Hedo's Contract -- Marry --> they *tried* to break it off with Hedo's impending contract, let him sleep around for awhile, and since they brought him back voluntarily, they knew what they were getting and they'll just have to make the best of what's left
