- I have no idea how this didn’t receive more attention, but I missed it, too. From three days ago: Jay Caspian Kang on Kobe Bryant.
- A good Q&A with the much-maligned DeMarcus Cousins.
- You should follow Roland Lazenby on Twitter. You never know when he’s going to start sharing stories about Phil Jackson, Michael Jordan, Jerry West, Kobe Bryant, etc. We’re lucky when he does.
- It’s Sheed Week at Hardwood Paroxysm: Danny Chau on Sheed and Tim Duncan, Andrew Lynch on technicals. Lynch doesn’t refer to FreeDarko’s discovery that he plays better when he’s angry, however.
- Chau on James Harden and his beard.
- Just to make Ethan happy, Chad Ford on Anthony Davis, who was amazing last night: “27 points, 15 rebounds, 7 blocks, 10-for-12 from the field… I know some fans are concerned about his lack of strength and raw offensive abilities. But on the defensive end, he’ll be a monster at the next level. And … I think this is very important … he’s a good kid, a hard worker and plays with a great motor all the time. Very few big men have all of that. I think Marcus Camby is is floor. He could be much better than Camby because I think he can be a 4 at the next level.”
- I’m not usually going to link things from the sites I assume you read every day, but Eric Freeman did the Earl Barron thing at BDL again and I would like to make sure you see it.
- Michael Katz breaking down all five Chandler Parsons putback dunks. For the record, Parsons has known Blake Griffin since he was 15, so he’s allowed to stare him down after a dunk.
- I take issue with the “without a bench, you’re just the 2011 Miami Heat” bit here, since they made it to the Finals, but I agree with pretty much everything else in this Evan Turner piece by Jerry Scherwin at Philadunkia. I wrote about being patient with Turner last March and I think the Sixers organization and Sixer fans need to continue to be patient. He doesn’t have to start just because he was a high pick — it’s not best for the team as presently constructed.
- You could listen to people debate who’s better between Andrew Bynum or Dwight Howard, or you could listen to Bynum himself. He says Howard is more proven, he looks up to him, and he learns from watching him.
- Stephen Jackson missed all six shots he took in the first half last night, didn’t play after halftime, and wasn’t thrilled about it afterward. Jeremy Schmidt urges you not to make this into something bigger than that.
- Why is Vanilla Ice performing at halftime of a Pistons game? This is so weird. I saw him do a Raptors halftime show last February and the Nuggets brought him in last season, too.
- Via Tom Haberstroh, here’s Eddy Curry running pick-and-roll drills today after practice:
